The team progressed quite
well through weeks that we have been working on this website. We started
out not communicating well with each other, as if we were almost afraid of
each other. However, as we got to know each other, we began to communicate
more often. The second problem we started out with was that we had no idea
what to write for the website, because we had no true knowledge about
tissue engineering. That problem was solved when we began receiving help
from our technical advisor. The final problem was learning how to build a
website. This problem was fixed with the help of one of our members,
Byron, who had made his own website before.
Our team
was put together by our professor in the later part of 2003. We were
grouped by interests, rather than randomly assigning individuals to teams,
and then choosing a topic to work on. In the beginning, we hardly ever
communicated. Every team member researched his or her own component. But
as the project progressed, we began communicating more.
When we
received an email from our technical advisor, stating that she would
volunteer her services, communication was eminent. Now we all rely on each
other, and feed on each other's advancements and the new knowledge we
gain. Communication helped our progression in the project greatly.
Three
lessons learned:
1)
Communication is essential to success.
2)
Procrastination will result in failure.
3) Tissue
engineering is a steadily progressing field that has limitless
possibilities for improving our way of life.
