Damaged
cartilage is a problem in every age group. Cartilage can be damaged
by disease, trauma, or congenital abnormalities. Currently, there is
no treatment to replace tissue except for plastic or metal implants. Scientists
and tissue engineers are working on ways to utilize the patients own
cartilage cells to produce natural cartilage that will be identical to the
patients original cartilage. We propose improvements on existing
methods that will produce the best cartilage.
