Our team is from The Oklahoma School of Science and Math Regional Center (O.S.S.M.), located in Enid, Oklahoma. Our project title is Gene Therapy. ISTF Project #04-690 was developed in response to the 2004-2005 Internet Science and Technology Fair. The National Critical Technology (NTC) category is Living Systems, the sub-category is Gene Therapy/Replacement. The technology application will be finding the causes of Lou Gehrig's disease and help find a cure for them. ![]() Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis(ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, is an adult onset disease that progressively ravages the brain, attacking motor neurons until the brain loses the ability to control movement. We propose that, through early screening and testing, we can find people affected with the gene and treat their DNA to prevent the disease from setting in, hoping to rid the world of the disease.
