Teaming Retrospective

      Our team began work slowly. Procrastination was a major factor in completing our project. Though our failure to find a technical advisor could have discouraged us, our team forged ahead and was forced to rely on each other. Our teamwork in the final phases of our project was outstanding as every person in the group contributed major time and effort. When we worked together, things got accomplished a lot faster than we thought they would. Our instructor was extremely helpful as he helped proofread our work and gave us suggestions along the way.

Communication Retrospective

      Communication between team members was challenging as we each live in different towns. Most of our correspondence occurred through either phone calls or e-mail. The majority of our collaboration took place in class, as this was the most convenient option for everyone involved. As the project progressed, team members gave honest constructive criticism and our attitude towards the project changed accordingly. We believe that our communication associated with potential technical advisors was sufficient, but unfortunately one could not be obtained. Overall, our communication improved throughout the project and in the end, we actually enjoyed working together. We consider our good communication an asset more than a hindrance.

Three Lessons Learned

      One of the things our group learned by doing this project was that a daunting task can be completed if you divide it up and take it one step at a time. Another important learning experience was realizing that if someone criticizes your work, they are not criticizing you. Learning to accept and appreciate other people’s opinions is an important ability. Lastly, we learned that completing a project of this magnitude requires dedication and focus and leaves you with a feeling of great satisfaction.
