Welcome to OSSM @ Autry!

Overview

The Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics Regional Center at Autry Technology Center provides advanced educational opportunities and challenges for high school juniors and seniors in the district who are gifted in the areas of science and math.  The school is a branch of the prestigious Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics

Classes Offered (Fall Semester)

Calculus I: This course will cover properties and applications of functions, limits, derivatives and integrals.  Instruction of calculus concepts will be presented through multiple approaches including numerical, graphical, analytical and verbal methods.  Graphing calculators and computer software are used throughout the course to gain conceptual understanding.  The topics covered will be similar to typical college calculus I courses.

General Physics This course introduces students to classical concepts of physics (motion, electromagnetism, sound and light) and lays the foundation for calculus-based physics courses.  Class time aims to promote an active learning environment.  Laboratory included.

Classes Offered (Spring Semester)

Calculus II: Topics covered will include additional methods of differentiation and integration, infinite series, polynomial approximations and series, calculus for polar equations, parametric equations and vector valued functions.  It is intended that students be able to receive credit for one or two college calculus courses.

Mechanics This course is calculus-based and the emphasis is on developing students' problem-solving skills and on improving their lab techniques.  Completion of the course prepares students for the Mechanics part of the AP Physics C exam.
