Congratulations
to former OSSM Autry Tech
students Robert Champlin, Colin Franklin,
Sumit Som, Greg Fisher and Phillip Hodge for being named 2003 Academic
All-Staters by the Oklahoma Foundation for
Excellence.
Each
year the Oklahoma Foundation for
Excellence honors 100 Academic All-Staters
and the top educators in the state, and is a wonderful celebration for
those who value excellence in public education. The seventeenth annual
Academic Awards Banquet was held at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, May 17, at
the Cox Convention Center in downtown Oklahoma City. University of
Oklahoma President David L. Boren, chairman and founder of the Oklahoma
Foundation for Excellence, was master of ceremonies for the event.
Since
1987, 100 high school seniors have
been selected each year by the Foundation and named Academic All-Staters.
This prestigious award provides each recipient with $1,500 in
scholarship money, a medallion, and a commemorative plaque.
Boren has described the selection of Oklahoma's Academic All-Staters as
,"Oklahoma's most rigorous academic competition."
The 100 recipients are selected on the basis of academic
achievement, extracurricular activities, community involvement, as well
as an essay submitted by each nominee.
